Lee R. Atterbury was born in 1948. He grew up in Dodge County, Wisconsin. His education includes Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he was awarded a BA degree cum laude in 1970. He attended law school at the University of Wisconsin Madison and was awarded a Juris Doctor degree in 1974. During law school, he was elected to be a Note and Comment editor for the University of Wisconsin Law Review.

He was admitted to practice law in Wisconsin in 1974 and has practiced in Wisconsin and the Federal District Court of the Western District of Wisconsin ever since. On the basis of trial experience and test examination he was certified as a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate By the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mr. Atterbury is also a member of the American Association of Justice, the Wisconsin Bar Association, the Wisconsin Association of Justice, and the Dane County Bar Association. His legal practice focuses on injury cases of all kinds, including motor vehicle accidents, defective products, construction site injuries and unsafe buildings.

Mr. Atterbury has been selected as a Super Lawyer and has also been selected to be included in the Best Lawyers of America, and has also been selected by Madison Magazine as one of Madison area's best lawyers.

Mr. Atterbury worked his way through high school, college, and law school. His jobs included typesetter and pressman for newspapers and print shops, ward attendant in a nursing home, and laborer in a canning factory.

His many trials have included motor vehicle crashes, defective products, gas explosions and fires, construction site injuries, industrial injuries, unsafe buildings, injuries caused by animals, and professional negligence.

In his 41 years of practice, he has obtained compensation for victims who have suffered a wide variety of injuries including amputations, fractures, spinal injuries and paralysis, brain damage, herniated discs, birth injuries, eye injuries and loss of sight, severe burns, scarring and disfigurement, psychological trauma and death.

Mr. Atterbury has a deep empathy for injured people of all ages and walks of life. He believes that injuries can affect all areas of life including work, recreation, family, hobbies, social activities, and enjoyment of life and that clients are entitled to compensation for all the effects of their injuries.

Mr. Atterbury is a husband and father of three children. He is an avid horse owner and rider and a member of the AQHA and NRHA. He is also a black belt in tae kwon do. He is retired private pilot and has published three novels, Solitude Showdown, Meeteetse Massacre and Crazy Woman.
